BAJA MAC Fitness Golfer’s STP GOLF Technique

One of the best quotes for any athlete or golfer is a quote by Mr. Ray Lewis about GREATEST- “Greatness is a lot of small things done well. Day after day, workout after workout, obedience after obedience, day after day.”

The small things that I use to set up my golf swing are Sync, Transition, Preset of my wrists in the strike zone.

We Play Golf with our Subconscious Mind

There is another key element in sports in general and in golf specifically, we don’t play sports or golf with our conscious mind; but with our subconscious mind with natural instincts. If your golf swing isn’t instinctive, you won’t have a game you can improve.

Four Components for Consistent Golf

There are four components that every golfer needs to develop and use- Figment (mental image), Focus, Forearms, and Feel. The more figment, or images, the golfer can create more focus and the ability to hardwire with our subconscious mind.

There is another quote in Caddyshack, of all places- Be the Ball:

“There’s a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball”

The force is the golfer’s subconscious mind. The more figment the golf uses the more focus they will have and for a consistent golf game.

I personally like two figments: One is the baseball strike zone and the second is a shot clock. This allows me to hardwire my subconscious mind.

I Like to use the strike zone and baseball batter’s techniques for focus- I want to Sync, Transition, and Preset my wrists in the strike zone before taking the handle of the golf club to the top of my swing.

The Rule of Thumb

The Rule of Thumb- Since I am right-handed, my left thumb represents the shaft and hosel of the club while the right thumb represents the clubface. My right thumb indicates a strong, neutral, or weak grip.

Developing Muscle Memory

Without getting too much into kinesiology, there are two key wrist actions to sync, transition, and preset my wrists- called Palmar Flexion, Supination, and Radial Deviation that completes the STP.

Palmar Flexion is like throwing a baseball underhanded to your right, if you are right-handed. Sync maneuver.

Supination is like turning a doorknob. Transition maneuver.

Radial Deviation is like an action to cast a fishing rod. Preset maneuver.

Fuego Practice

If you ever hit infield practice, called Fuego, you performed the Palmar Flexion- throwing the baseball up into the air with the left hand.

Follow by holding the bat with your right hand, swing the bat to hit popup flies and grounders for the transition and preset.

When the golfer looks down, they want to see their wrists in the Lock and Cock Position, shown below:

The Lock & Cock Position of the Wrists:

The left thumb, while representing the shaft of the club, the left thumb (RH), also represents the correct swing plane to take the handle of the club up to the top.

This works for short pitch or chip shots to tee shots. Below are five (5) short videos that I made in 2014, before I lost 45 LBS.

I did the tee shot for a camera crew from WJTV-12 here in Jackson, Mississippi in June of 2014 for their Sports Zone Show. They were interested in my STP Golf Swing Technique. I did three videos covering the STP Fundamentals, a Walk-through, and the Orange Bucket Challenge:

Introduction to STP Golf Swing:

Walk-Through STP:

STP Orange Bucket Challenge T-Shot:

NOTE: The Orange Bucket Challenge was shot in one take with me hitting what would be five 290- yard tee shots to within 15 feet of a Home Depot Orange Bucket.

You will hit more fairways and greens with the STP Technique. The only thing you must do is to take your golf swing from the batter’s box to the tee box with a simple sync, transition, and preset technique to build a natural muscle memory for reliable and repeatable results in your golf game.
