I Usually Don’t Shave Every Day; But When I Do, I Use Classic Shaving Soap.com

If you are like me, shaving is not one of those things you enjoy doing similar to me stretching before my workouts that I do during the week. But like stretching, once you do them and your exercises you feel better.

For many men, shaving is a necessary chore rather than a pleasure. Yet with the right technique and quality shaving soap (CLASSICSHAVING.COM), it becomes a ritual that delivers exceptional results—close, irritation-free shaves and healthier looking skin.

Traditional shaving soap, lathered with a brush, provides superior cushioning and lubrication compared to modern gels, allowing the razor to glide effortlessly while nourishing the skin with coconut oils. Whether you shave daily or, like many mature men like myself, only a few times a week or on special occasions, this method elevates the experience.

Begin by preparing your face:

Fill your basin sink with hot tap water. Simultaneously, microwave a coffee-cup-sized portion of three-quarter-filled water for about two minutes until it reaches approximately 195°F.

While the mug heats, splash warm tap water onto your face and the back of your neck to soften whiskers and open pores. Next, apply a light layer of conditioner shampoo as a primer. This creates a protective barrier, reduces friction, and primes the hair for easier cutting.

Soak your shaving brush in the hot mug water for 20 seconds to bloom the bristles and retain heat. Use your safety, or straight, razor first for precision work: clean up sideburns and the back of your neck to define a crisp hairline just using the shampoo on the areas.

Now load the brush with Shaving Soap

Shake off excess water, then swirl it into your shaving soap to build a rich, warm leather. After applying shaving soap shave with the first pass using downward strokes.

Apply a second coat of shaving leather by first dipping the shaving brush back into the hot water mug, adding a second layer of soap to the face areas. For a closer, smoother finish, shave with upward strokes (against the grain where comfortable). The hot lather softens stubble effectively, minimizing nicks and razor burn.

Finish strong

Replace the basin water in the basin with ice-cold water and rinse thoroughly. This closes pores and invigorates the skin, promoting a youthful appearance—even at my age 68.

Pat dry gently with a clean towel, then apply a soothing mixture of baby oil blended with your favorite cologne (my favorite has been ARAMIS since age 12) for moisture and scent.

Though shaving may never be your favorite morning activity, this warm barbershop soap-based routine rewards you with baby-smooth skin and lasting confidence. The combination of heat, proper leathering, multi-pass technique, and cold rinse delivers professional results at home.

Invest in a good safety razor, natural shaving soap, and badger or synthetic brush—you’ll notice the difference immediately. Your face will thank you.

I have been ordering shaving soap from CLASSICSHAVING.COM for 6 years now since it became difficult finding shaving soap in stores in my community. Ladies shaving soap will become your favorite as well.
