How to Invest and Achieve Age-Defying Results in Your Late 60s
This featured photograph is of me at age 66 in November of 2024 on my INDIAN Scout Bobber 60 taken inside of our hangar preparing for a classic car show.
This article will be of great interest to Generation X, Millennials (Generation Y), and Generation X, and even Baby Boomer, such as myself.
The main emphasis of this article dives into practical strategies for looking and feeling far younger than your chronological age, considered one powerful principle. Treat your health and fitness like you would a retirement account—an IRA or 401(k) but emphasize making deposits early (eating right and working out 3-5 times per week) so you can enjoy the compounded benefits when you reach your 50s and 60s.
Starting Early is Your Biggest Assets
Youth is your greatest asset in your late 20s and mid-30s. This is the ideal time to establish habits that pay dividends decades later in your 60’s. Commit to a nutrient-dense diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, fiber, Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, along with complex carbohydrates. I am on my MAC Diet.
Pair it with a consistent fitness routine (flexibility, cardio, and strength training) performed three to five days per week that balances flexibility work, cardiovascular exercise, and strength training. DO NOT neglect strength training ladies or guys, when working your muscles your muscles are releasing a natural growth hormone that contains collagen, our fountain of youth.
Start Early in Your 30’s while you have Age on your Side
This is the very reason why we age starting in our mid-30’s. Our body’s collagen production starts to slow down in our mid-30’s than stops in our 60’s. But strength training can counters this aging process.
Don’t stop there—add a social sport you genuinely enjoy. Golf offers a relaxing pace and fresh air, while pickleball has surged in popularity because it delivers fun competition without excessive joint stress. These activities build not only physical resilience but also mental well-being through camaraderie and regular movement.
My Age-defying Journey Started with Sweet Potatoes and Sauerkraut
My own journey began in my mid-20s when I read about how Hollywood actors maintain peak condition for demanding roles. Take for example Tom Cruise’s preparation for the original Top Gun in 1986 stood out in the volleyball scene.
The emphasis of this article I want to make is that it is not ever too later to start a healthy diet and fitness program; but the sooner the better!
This article that I read explained how actors and actresses' regimen consist of healthy eating, including sweet potatoes paired with high-quality protein food sources.
Fast-forward to Top Gun: Maverick, where Cruise, then in his early 60s, performed an intense beach sport called “Dog Fighting Football” scene on the beach. His visible abdominal definition and athleticism prove that disciplined early investment creates extraordinary results later.
Losing weight is one achievement; maintaining muscle tone and core strength visible enough for a major motion picture is another level entirely.
Beyond core nutrition and training, I credit one simple addition for supporting my vitality since my 40s: I also include two tablespoon-sized servings of sauerkraut. I enjoy one after lunch, another after dinner, and a serving before workouts in my home gym.
Fermented foods like sauerkraut deliver probiotics that promote gut health, which in turn supports broader wellness. Research links regular consumption to benefits such as lower LDL cholesterol, more stable blood glucose levels, and improved appearance of eyes, hair, and skin. These small daily deposits compound quietly over years. Read my article: https://www.bajamacfitness.com/a-persons-4-main-focus-points-skin-hair-eyes-and-waistline-add-sauerkraut-to-your-diet
My Age-defying Results Now at Age 69
Now nearly 69, I now reap the rewards of those consistent early choices. My energy levels, muscle tone, and overall appearance reflect decades of thoughtful investment rather than last-minute efforts. I treat my age-defying results like I am withdrawing from a well-funded health account, comfortable, sustainable, and confidence-building that I still do.

The discipline I practiced in my late 20s and 30s created a foundation that allows me to stay active and vibrant today, as shown in the featured photograph.
It is Never too late to Start your own IRA or 401(k) Health & Fitness Program
This principle applies regardless of your current age, however starting sooner yields greater returns. If you’re already in your 50s or 60s, it’s never too late to start contributions through smarter nutrition, progressive training, and enjoyable movement. But start slowly and build up what you can do NOW! The only issue with starting later in life, you just have to work harder in your 50’s and 60’s. Small, action-balanced meals, regular workouts, and social sports—accumulate into transformative outcomes.
The featured image taken in November of 2024 captures this philosophy in action. Taken in our hangar while preparing for a classic car show, it shows me on my 2022 Indian Scout Bobber 60. The photo reflects the cumulative effect of lifelong habits: feeling strong, capable, and decades younger than the calendar suggests.
True age-defying results stem from proactive investing planning, but this impact is a huge benefit in your health and fitness. Begin your “health portfolio” early, diversify with diet, exercise, and recreation, and supplement wisely. Your future self in your late 60s will thank you—looking closer to mid-30s while living with the wisdom and freedom that only time can provide.
Finial Question you have to ask yourself- IF YOU DIET AND FITNESS IS WORKING OUT WITH THIS SUCCESS, YOU NEED TO STICK WITH IT BECAUSE YOUR DIET AND FITNESS BESIDES DROPPING WEIGHT AND INCHES; YOU ARE DROPPING YEARS OFF YOUR APPEARANCE.
IF NOT, TRY THE BAJA FITNESS & MAC DIET, MY FITNESS AT 68.
